Position Description:

The Convening Programs Manager leads Humentum’s robust program of member networking, convening and conferencing—over 50 events per year. S/he is responsible for building and executing a portfolio of programs that bring together operations professionals with the aim of strengthening Humentum’s existing network and curating knowledge for the community. Working as a member of the member and learner experience team, this role will work across teams on a regular basis. This is full-time position based in Washington, DC with up to 10% travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a lead for the session content and project management of Humentum’s portfolio of conference events in the US, East Africa and other future locations as determined
  • Serve as a lead for the session content and project management of a suite of roundtable convening meetings of our members and networking events
  • Implement new and innovative approaches that maximize the impact of our events for learning, networking, and mobilizing collective action
  • Develop and manage approaches for creating actionable and shareable knowledge and insights from all of our convening events

Specific Responsibilities:

Attract: Work across teams to develop a calendar of convening events that increases the engagement level of the Humentum network

 

Connect and Engage: Schedule, design, plan and execute a suite of learning-focused convenings that allow professionals to connect with each other and deepen engagement with Humentum

  • OpEx conference portfolio (2 annual conferences in East Africa and Washington, DC)
    • Develop conference program and agenda
      • Deliver an innovative conference agenda that meets the needs of a diverse audience
      • Manage a session selection and development process, working with a number of internal and external stakeholders, including advisory councils and steering committees
    • Project manage the delivery of each conference
      • Manage all communication and tracking with the marketing, membership and event logistics teams
      • Ensure all internal teams are staying on track and within budget
      • Conduct regular learning reviews and responsible for implementing agreed upon improvements each year
  • Roundtable convenings
    • Manage and work with multiple advisory councils on a quarterly basis to identify and prioritize challenges to address
    • Work with paid and volunteer subject matter experts to design and deliver convening agendas
    • Work with events logistics team to plan and execute roundtable events
    • Facilitate learning and sharing convening events as necessary

 

Amplify: Curate insights from multiple convening events and work across teams to amplify the learning throughout Humentum’s network.

REQUIREMENTS 

Qualifications and Desired Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years of progressive administrative/programmatic support, including independent project management, with accountability to senior management
  • Experience in international operations within the non-profit sector desirable
  • Experience helping to lead internal teams towards on-time project delivery
  • Experience in working with subject matter experts to develop learning, networking, or other relevant events
  • Experience in facilitation or coordination of webinars/virtual events and live in-person meetings

  • Previous experience with Salesforce preferred
  • Research and data analysis experience preferred
  • Additional language and translation experience a plus;
  • Able to collaborate with other team members online while also working alone; confident managing yourself
  • Able to provide the dedicated work space and high-speed internet connectivity for this work-from-home position
