About FLA

FLA is an international network of companies, universities, and civil society organizations committed to promoting human rights at work. FLA holds companies accountable to their labor rights commitments by evaluating business practices against the highest international standards for global supply chains and provides training and tools to help companies improve working conditions and the lives of workers at farms and factories worldwide.

Project Scope

FLA provides members and non-members with a variety of educational materials, including courses available in its LMS. FLA is seeking a consultant that can execute the following:

  1.  Content development and revisions based on FLA feedback (weeks 1-4): FLA will provide the consultant with content on a given topic that may include PowerPoint presentations, notes, and/or toolkits. The consultant should review and create a draft storyboard including a static version of all the interactive elements planned. Examples of interactive elements are case studies, quizzes, etc. The storyboard should be in a Word document so that FLA staff can then provide feedback and edits. FLA will also grant the consultant with access to existing courses developed in Create (the LMS authoring tool) to clarify expectations.

  1. Course authoring and revisions based on FLA feedback (weeks 4-8): Once the storyboard has been accepted by FLA, the consultant can then begin authoring the course in Create. FLA will review and provide feedback for revisions.

Course Expectations:

  • The number of slides is flexible, but the final course should take 30-60 minutes to complete.

  • There should be an interactive element every 5 slides or 10 minutes of content.

  • FLA logo, fonts, color schemes, formatting, and settings should be consistent with existing courses.

Potential Topics

FLA will determine the course topic in advance. Potential topics include Human Rights Due Diligence, Risk Assessments, Roadmap for Governance, or Working with 3rd Party Contractors.

Required Skillsets

The consultant must have:

  • Experience working with authoring tools, preferably Create. Time spent learning how to use Create will not be compensated.

  • Experience in instructional design, including experience creating engaging and interactive online courses, webinars, or training.

  • An understanding of social compliance and responsible sourcing concepts including Human Rights Due Diligence, and the ability to review and condense a large amount of material from various sources into a course.

Timeframe

The consultant would need to submit all final deliverables for the course within eight weeks of beginning the project.  A detailed project schedule would be developed during an opening meeting. Weekly meetings would be held to discuss and review progress.

How to Submit a Proposal

An email of interest should be submitted to chagan@fairlabor.org by April 15, 2024 at 5pm. Please indicate your proposed hourly rate, estimated number of hours, and share examples of past courses developed.

Please note that throughout the project, monthly invoices from the consultant can be submitted to FLA. Invoices must contain an hourly detail of the work completed.
