We are currently seeking a seasoned Senior Manager, Accounting, based in the US, to oversee a portfolio of international projects to ensure effective financial oversight and fiscal management in compliance with donor regulations, organizational policies and within best practice. This is a leadership position that is responsible for managing a team of finance staff to ensure the effective financial management across all projects, and working closely with US based and overseas staff to achieve the organization’s objectives. Knowledge, Qualifications and Skills:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or related field required. Master’s degree preferred. CPA is a plus
  • Minimum of 10 years’ successful financial management experience in positions with increasing responsibility in an international nonprofit with a budget of $10M or more
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills: ability to extract meaning from numbers and present analysis clearly and concisely to people with widely varying degrees of financial knowledge
  • Proficient with Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of BlackBaud Financial Edge is a plus
  • Knowledge for French, Portuguese or Spanish a plus
  • Proven skills in managing staff and ability to build and support effective teams
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to form strong relationships with staff in a diverse work environment
  • Strong critical thinking and creative problem solving skills; able to balance attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Highly motivated and highly organized and able to juggle competing priorities
  • Flexible, with a sense of humor, comfort with change, and a positive attitude
  • High level of integrity and professionalism
  • Must work cooperatively with others and exercise good judgement
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time

Professional knowledge of the managerial accounting principles for private, federal and non-profit organizations, including USAID, OMB Uniform Guidance, GAAP for not-for-profit accounting among others.
