POSITION SUMMARY
The Fair Labor Association seeks an experienced Project Manager to oversee the “Harvesting the Future – Cotton in India” (HTF) project. “Harvesting the Future – Cotton in India” is a multistakeholder project focused on improving conditions for cotton farmers and workers in the country’s cotton supply chain. The project has over 30 partners including 23 brands, two India based suppliers, 3-4 implementing partners, and an Advisory Group made up of various stakeholders.
This position will be part of the FLA Agriculture and Innovation Department and directly report to the Program Director, Agriculture and Innovation based in Istanbul, Türkiye, and collaborate closely with the FLA Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer based in Switzerland.
This is a fixed-term position for 24 months with the possibility of extension. This is a Level 3/Geo 3B role with an annual salary range of $32,000- $35,000 USD. This is a remote position based in Indore, India.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Project Implementation Duties

Lead the project planning, execution, and monitoring of all project activities.

Prepare detailed Requests for Proposals and Terms of References for implementing partners per the project workplan.

Ensure clarity about roles and responsibilities among project partners and stakeholders, and inform them of monitoring and evaluation, and implementation plan as the project progresses.

Develop narrative progress reports, and prepare briefs, updates, best practices, success stories, and lessons learned for the project.
Coalition Governance and Coordination Duties

Manage HTF Cotton General Assembly, Advisory Committee, and any other groups as mandated by the General Assembly.

Undertake coordination of partners, general assembly meetings, training and capacity-building sessions, and stakeholder meetings.

Organize and prepare for General Assembly meetings monthly and Advisory Group meetings on a sin-monthly basis with all project partners during 2025, 2026, and 2027, to finalize meeting minutes on an ongoing basis.

Establish regular touch points with the two Indian suppliers, implementing partners, local, and state-level government officials (daily, weekly, monthly, as needed).

Prepare and circulate agenda and update project materials and documents based on the coalition's decisions.

Undertake local, and national stakeholder engagement and conduct advocacy efforts at the state level as and when advised by the FLA EVP and Program Director.
Administrative and Finance-Related Duties

Review the project requirements, including progress, financial reporting, and communication plan, and adhere to the requirements.

Plan and forecast expenditure and project activities to ensure compliance with the project contract and budget, prevent overspending, and provide regular updates to the general assembly.

Provide timely and accurate financial data to the FLA Finance team for the purpose of planning, reporting, and audit.
Technical Duties

Contribute to developing tools and adapting existing tools and training materials.

Lead field-level assessments, observations, and desktop verification of practices by reviewing and analyzing project partner suppliers’ documentation, assessment reports, and additional research as needed.

Facilitate supply chain mapping and visit the various tiers of the supply chain for assessments to develop written reports evaluating the suppliers’ practices and findings.

Help develop and follow up on individual suppliers’ action plans.
Communication-Related Tasks
-
Represent FLA at conferences, meetings, and other events when required.

Support external communications.
-
Provide translation support where needed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
-
An undergraduate degree with a minimum of five years professional experience in managing multi-stakeholder projects on children’s rights, human rights due diligence, responsible sourcing, living wage / living income, and occupational health and safety.

Background in project monitoring and evaluation.

Fluency in English and Hindi required.

Strong computer literacy, including MS Office Suite; experience with iOS preferred.

High-level oral and written communication skills; proven ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters. Strong writing skills, including authoring reports.

Ability to analyze large amounts of information and data comfortably and accurately.

Strong commitment to the FLA’s mission of protecting workers’ rights.

Outstanding organizational, program management, and time management skills.

Keen attention to detail.

Ability to work in remote (village) locations.

A driver’s license required as position may require work from project partners’ office in Indore for up to two days per week. Travel expenses will be reimbursed against receipts. Local travel within Madhya Pradesh and India (up to 30-40% time) is required.

FLA will provide a work computer, data connection facilities (cell phone data package, internet data package) and a printer.
